Congrats to all involved in today’s epic and historic win by our girls in Croke Park!! With grim determination, they came from behind, not once…but twice, to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in an enthralling encounter that had everyone on the edge of their seats with hearts thumping and nails crying out for mercy..! In the end we survived, thanks to the “never say die” attitude of our heroes.. Great credit is due to all involved…Lisa and Jonney in Clanna Gael and Mr. Lehmann and Ms McCaw in school. Our thanks to Fr. Tonge and Dublin Bus for the transport and photography…Great stuff!!

The following are the arrangements for the “Sciath Nua” Camogie Final in Croke Park next Wednesday morning at 10.30…….

1. Squad Departure: 9.30am : St. Patrick’s GNS squad will leave for Croke Park at 9.30. The panel and mentors will be formally seen off by the students, staff and parents of the school, as they leave us to participate in the greatest sporting event of their lives…so far! This will allow them time to get their strategy in order, overcome any last minute nerves and acclimatise themselves to the hallowed turf of the cauldron that is Croke Park…Afterwards, the squad will return with the supporters.

2. Supporters Departure: 9.45am: Classes 1st – 6th along with other supporters will leave on 2 double decker buses, very kindly provided to us by Dublin Bus out of Ringsend Garage, for this special occasion.

Parents please note: If you are travelling with us to the match, we may ask you to take your own child/ren on the bus which will be designated for Parents/Adults and the teachers will take the remaining children on the other bus. We will have a clearer picture of numbers and how this will work, on the day.

One payment for entry of all supporters to Croke Park, on the day, will be made through the school. We will cover the €3, per head, cost of children attending, but will have to collect €5, per head, for each adult attending. If you wish to go along. please send in your €5 on Tuesday to your child’s teacher and we can compile a list in this way.

We expect to be back in school by 12.15pm

(Buses: Parking Arrangements for Day 2: Buses, teams enter from Clonliffe Road via St Joseph’s Ave and park on concourse behind Cusack Stand.

Cars: Rear of Croke Park Hotel (Jones’ Road) carpark will be available for supporters travelling by car.)

The Board of Management, staff and pupils of St. Patrick’s G.N.S. extend our deepest sympathies to the extended families of Ashley McKeown Doyle (4th Class) and Tara Smyth (6th Class) on the deaths of Ashley’s dad, Tony, and Tara’s mam, Marion, in recent days. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during these saddest of times. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamnacha.

Books, books, books…..we just love ‘em!!!

This morning, we had 2 huge events in the school both of which had to do with books and reading! The first was the launch of the “Zoom Ahead with Books” exhibition, sponsored by the NCI, which involved puils and parents from Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class. They read loads of story books and did fantastic pictures with their Book Buddies over the last few weeks and now they have beautiful, framed pictures of their work to take home with them!!

At 11 o’clock, then, we had the closing ceremony of the “One Community, One Book” programme, run by our Home School Community Liaison Co-ordinator, Helen, which involved pupils from our 2 schools and Ringsend College. This was a really lively event and our girls sang a few songs to help out!h

We had a very colourful get-together this morning in the church with Fr. Tonge and some of his American friends… Nearly everyone dressed up for St. Patrick’s Day, as you can see from the photos and we collected money for the Parents’ Association’s work to try and make the Hall nicer for everyone. We will let you know later how much was collected! Thanks to everyone!
